AFK Heroes has launched a significant update that replaces its previous turn-based player-versus-player (PvP) format with real-time duels. This new mode allows players to face off against each other in live matches, enhancing the competitive experience.
Players can engage in 1v1 duels using three character classes—knight, mage, and rogue—and they have the option to either directly control their characters or let the artificial intelligence (AI) handle the combat. This flexibility maintains the game's idle mechanics while introducing a more dynamic PvP experience.

The announcement of this new feature was made via a post on X, stating, "PvP used to be two heroes taking turns. Not anymore." While the update brings exciting new gameplay, the developers have not provided details regarding matchmaking, rewards, or the impact of duel outcomes on the in-game currency, $AFKHERO.
This update follows the introduction of mining in October, which allows players to divert their heroes from combat to resource collection. Additionally, AFK Heroes is available as a free-to-play browser game on the Solana blockchain, supporting wallet connections such as Phantom or Solflare. Players can earn $AFKHERO while adventuring through various combat zones and can withdraw their earnings to personal wallets.
