ApeChain Transitions to Chainlink CCIP for Cross-Chain Operations
Written with artificial intelligence.

ApeChain has announced a shift from LayerZero to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as its primary cross-chain bridge, impacting the entire Yuga Labs ecosystem. The migration will include key assets like APE and USDC, which will be upgraded to Chainlink Cross-Chain Tokens.
Migration to Chainlink CCIP
ApeChain is set to replace LayerZero with Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as its official bridge for cross-chain operations. This change affects all components of the Yuga Labs ecosystem, including the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club.
On November 4, both Chainlink and ApeChain shared the announcement on X. According to the update, ApeChain assets, which previously utilized LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard for cross-chain transfers, will now be reissued as Chainlink Cross-Chain Tokens (CCT).
The integration of CCIP aims to streamline connectivity for decentralized applications (dApps) and communities within the Yuga Labs framework. ApeChain's current asset values stand at APE for $0.116 and USDC for $1.00. However, specifics regarding the transition timeline and whether existing tokens will convert automatically remain undisclosed.
Chainlink noted that its CCIP allows external dApps and bridge aggregators to connect without needing to create custom contracts for each token. This transition is seen as a move towards a more robust cross-chain standard for the Yuga Labs ecosystem, enhancing the infrastructure for its future developments.
