ArkDev Proposes New Exploration Game After HYTOPIA Collapse
Written with artificial intelligence.

ArkDev, co-founder of HYTOPIA, has introduced a concept for a free-to-play exploration game that emphasizes building, character progression, and an equipment-driven economy. The game would feature expeditions in randomly generated worlds, allowing players to gather resources and improve their skills, but the idea remains open for community feedback without a set production timeline.
New Game Concept from ArkDev
In the wake of HYTOPIA's collapse, ArkDev has proposed a new exploration game that draws inspiration from popular titles like Minecraft, RuneScape, and Path of Exile. This free-to-play game focuses on character progression and an economy driven by equipment.
Game Structure
The game features a permanent home world where players can build, store items, and craft gear. This hub evolves alongside the player's character, serving as a base for development and exploration. From this central location, players embark on expeditions into randomly generated environments measuring 1024-by-1024, filled with diverse biomes, wildlife, caves, ruins, and dungeons. Players access these expeditions via an NPC caravan guide, enabling them to collect materials and equipment before returning home.
Gameplay Mechanics
A critical aspect of gameplay is the decision-making involved in when to return from expeditions. If a player dies, they lose all gathered resources but retain their skills and equipment, maintaining high stakes without hindering long-term character development. Progression mechanics borrow from RuneScape, with skills such as mining, fishing, and crafting improving through usage, capped at a maximum level of 99. Higher skill levels enhance movement, survival, and resource gathering capabilities.
Loot mechanics are inspired by Path of Exile, featuring random modifiers on items to increase their utility. Players can find or craft gear and trade items with one another. Additionally, handcrafted dungeons and challenges will provide players with objectives and rewards, contributing to character strength and better equipment.
Future Plans
The game is designed to support both browser and mobile platforms, allowing solo play or cooperative sessions of up to eight players. Characters and their equipment will remain consistent across these multiplayer modes. While this new direction reflects lessons learned from the previous project, ArkDev's proposal is still in the feedback phase, with no firm commitment to production or release timelines yet established.
