Zcash Developer Proposes Solution Against Quantum Attacks on Shielded Swaps

Zcash is taking proactive measures against potential quantum computing threats, with developer Zakura proposing a fix to prevent attackers from linking shielded swaps through published addresses. The Zcash network aims for post-quantum readiness by 2027.

Zcash Responds to Quantum Computing Threats

Zcash, a privacy-focused cryptocurrency, is addressing the emerging risks posed by quantum computing. Developer Zakura has highlighted the vulnerability that a single published Zcash address could present, allowing a future quantum attacker to trace all transactions linked to that wallet.

During a recent presentation at Consensus Miami's Privacy track, Josh Swihart, founder and CEO of Zcash Open Development Lab, announced that quantum-recoverable wallets are set to launch within a month. This initiative is part of Zcash's broader goal to achieve full post-quantum capabilities within the next 12 to 18 months.

In addition to enhancing security against quantum threats, Zcash is also targeting improvements in transaction throughput, aiming to match the performance levels of major payment processors such as Mastercard.

As the cryptocurrency landscape evolves, Zcash's proactive approach highlights the importance of addressing security concerns tied to advancing technologies like quantum computing.
